With a formulation designed to deliver the key ingredient where it needs to be, Olay Regenerist rolls out Collagen Peptide24 collection nationwide.
January 5, 2021

The mass market skin care space is off to a fast start in the new year and Olay is fresh out of the gate with its new Regenerist Collagen Peptide24 collection. The line, which delivers collagen peptide and vitamin B3, debuted on shelves nationwide on January 1. How much are consumers clamoring for collagen? Collagen is the most searched beauty term, and in the past three years, nearly 7,000 skin care products launched worldwide with the word collagen in the product name, according to Mintel GNPD 2017-2020. Yet, despite this ingredient’s popularity in skin care formulations, many women give up on collagen-based products for two main reasons: they are too expensive or users didn’t see a benefit, according to data from an Olay survey conducted in 2020 among 10,000 US women ages 18-65. The culprit: the collagen molecule is too big and will remain on the skin’s surface where it provides only limited benefits. Instead, Olay’s Collagen Peptide24 has been optimized with a peptide formula featuring small molecules that penetrate and provide visible results starting Day One. The peptide molecules in the new line have been shown to boost natural collagen production, according to P&G. Further, the range contains Olay’s highest concentration of peptides to date. The formulations also include vitamin B3—a go-to material for Olay—as well as glycerin and snow mushroom extract. The latter two increase moisture levels and improve moisture retention to keep skin hydrated throughout the day, said P&G. There are four products in the new collection, which have been designed to be used as a system. The first is Olay’s Collagen Peptide24 Cleanser ($9.99), which gently exfoliates and prepares skin for the other Collagen Peptide24 products. The next is Olay’s Collagen Peptide24 Serum, designed to be used evenly over the face and neck morning and night, followed by Collagen Peptide24 Eye Cream. The final step is Olay’s Collagen Peptide24 Moisturizer, a lightweight formula that absorbs quickly, giving 24 hours of hydration without a sticky, greasy or heavy feeling. The serum, eye cream and moisturizer each retail for $28.99.
